Study Objective:
This study evaluated the safety of treatment with laserpuncture (defined as treatment of acupoints with the laser, via ASHI points) using MLS in terms of adverse reactions and side effects. This study also evaluated the clinical efficacy of the treatment and degree of patient satisfaction. 67 adult patients who had acute or chronic muscle-skeletal diseases, including neck pain, low back pain, knee pain, shoulder, arthrosis/arthritis ,were treated with 6 treatments per patient and Visual Analogue Score was recorded.
Conclusion:
Reduction in VAS score from 7.4 (plus/minus 2.9) to 2.3 at follow up to three months after MLS laserpuncture. 80.5% of patients reported they were “satisfied/very satisfied”. No patient had general adverse or skin reactions. When compared to classical acupuncture as measure to previous data, the effects of the laser bean appear to be comparable from a clinical point of view. Laserpuncture is a safe, non-invasive treatment, thus avoid complications of skin puncture and a comfort to patients with needle fear.
