Clinical Case

Right hip osteoarthritis, hemilaminectomy surgery following L1-L2 disc extrusion, carried out two months prior to clinical presentation.

Referred to the rehabilitation centre due to delay in postoperative recovery.

Radiographic examination: right coxarthrosis
MRI: disc extrusion with L1-L2 spinal cord oedema

Clinical Examination

  • Gait paraparesis, ataxia AP
  • Scoliosis
  • Sensitivity
  • Bilateral proprioceptive deficit, left knuckling when walking
  • Serious myotrophy to thigh and rump muscles
  • Bladder and bowel incontinence
