Application of Low-Intensity, Low-Frequency Pulsed Electromagnetic Fields (PEMF) in the Treatment of Osteoarthritic Dogs

This paper reports the findings of an observational study investigating the efficacy of pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) in treating osteoarthritis (OA).

An analysis was conducted on a representative sample of ten dogs afflicted with OA, which were subjected to magnetotherapy treatments, two sessions per weeks, for a duration of six weeks. The principal indicators of interest included the degree of pain on palpation and the degree of lameness, joint mobility, muscle circumference and the dogs’ level of participation and happiness.

The observational study produced evidence showing a notable reduction in joint pain and an improvement in joint mobility for dogs treated with magnetotherapy. Additionally, pet owners reported an increase in their pets’ participation and happiness levels.

This study provides encouraging evidence for magnetotherapy’s effectiveness as a therapeutic option for treating joint pain in dogs.
