Comparison of the Effects of a Conventional Physiotherapy with Multiwave Locked System Laser Glenohumeral Joint Peritendinitis
This study evaluates the therapeutical effects of MLS® laser and the combined therapy of microwave diathermy and interference current, in patients with glenohumeral joint peritendinitis. A total of 76 patients were randomized into 2 groups in a 1:1 ratio. The primary outcome was the reduction of pain according to Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI). Secondary outcomes were improvement of shoulder’s movement (goniometry) and the reduction of pain, through the visual analogue scale (VAS).
Both treatments demonstrated statistically significant intragroup differences. The intergroup analysis showed a greater improvement of MLS Laser Therapy in terms of pain reduction at the end of the treatment and at the mid-term follow-up visit. Both therapies have demonstrated to be effective and safe. The application of MLS laser treatment presented more effective and durable therapeutic effects.
