Dory the Goldfish Receiving MLS Laser Therapy Treatments

Clinical Case

A female specimen of Carassius auratus aged 8 years and weighing 170 grams is referred to the Clinic due to the presence of an ulcerated neoformation of about 1 cm in diameter, located in the left flank region.

The cytological examination carried out by scraping highlights the presence of bacteria inside monocytes and granulocyte neutrophils.

A pyogranulomatous inflammation was diagnosed (infection).

Therapy

The therapy involved the administration of enrofloxacin intramuscularly every 24 h, associated with a cycle of MLS® Laser Therapy, using the point “Wound (infected)” program for Exotic Animals – Reptiles, 1 point, performed daily for 7 days with the Mphi Vet Orange device

Results

After just 5 days of treatment, there was a significant improvement in the vascularity of the area affected by necrosis. The necrotic tissue was replaced by new granulation tissue and the lesion began to re-epithelialize.
